Update in a Nutshell:

1. We have jumped back into life here in Russia with both feet.

2.  Michael John turned 2.

3.  Nathanael started rolling over, got croup, and is getting better.

4.  Life has been filled with readjusting.

Prayers

-Please pray for the health of our family.  That Nathanael will get all the way better and the rest of us will be able to glorify God through health and sickness.

-Please pray for our continued language learning.

-Pray for the contacts that we have started making.  Those that do not know Christ that they would come to Christ.  And those that do know Christ that we can encourage them.

-Pray for our own relationship with Christ to grow individually and as a family.

Praises

-Nathanael is getting better.

-We have pretty much adjusted back into life here.

-God has been very good to us through all of our adjustments.

-Life continues to change and God is the one guiding everything.

Since you heard from us last, we have settled into life here in Russia.  Our days our filled with language learning, family, and friends or friends in the making.  We jumped back in with both feet into language school.  Andrew returned to his class and is still catching up over the two months of lessons that he missed.  Jennifer was able to start in a new class that allowed her to review some and prepare to start into new lessons.  We both meet with a language helper twice a week that helps us with drills, pronunciation, and whatever else we might particularly need.  Jennifer’s language helper is a secretary that works for a local church.  Andrew’s language helper is a young college age student.  We both enjoy our respective helpers and how we are able to learn from them.  The rest of our language and culture learning contains homework, speaking with our nanny and acquaintances, listening and on the list goes.  As far as our language learning goes all is like it was before—lots of learning.

We celebrated Michael John’s birthday on the weekend after his actual birth day.  We had a Disney Cars theme that included cupcakes, coloring, and the Cars movie.  Jennifer went all out for the party including carrot sticks and crackers—a “c” theme, and a whole lot of other food.  Michael John loved all the kids that came over.  We invited a few families that we know making about 14 kids total and only 10 adults.  Our little apartment was packed with people, food, balloons, and fun.  Michael John slept very well that night and has now officially entered the terrific twos.

Included in Michael John stories we have begun potty training him.  This of course is always interesting, for those of you who have gone before us you know what I am talking about.  We are still working on it and often times have messes.  We just keep telling ourselves that it is the future we are looking towards, not the now.

Our last week has been filled with trips once again to the doctor.  Nathanael caught a small cold that quickly turned into croup.  We were able to take him to the doctor soon enough to get some medicine that would help him.  We bought a nebulizer and several other drugs and after a week or so of crying when given the medicine, coughing, and not feeling well he is finally well.  He is not quite 100% but almost there.  Of course it is always an interesting experience going to the doctor.  This doctor was much better than the last one we saw and very helpful.  We were even able to go without a translator.  So we now have had two boys that have had croup before the age of one.  With Michael John’s recent adventure getting a stitch in Vienna the future looks only to be full of adventure.

Also along the lines of Nathanael he started rolling over.  We were very anxious for this day to come because as Michael John started at 6 weeks we are now at almost 4 months.  He is doing better at rolling over and life has begun to change for us again.

These last few weeks have been filled with quite an array of adjusting: adjusting to getting back into school, our lifestyle here, learning continually, getting reacquainted with the medical community, and family.  We have spent a lot of time at school and with family these last few weeks.  It has really been good for everyone we believe.
